Senators under the Senate Public Accounts Committee are set to tour the county on Siaya in the course of the month.
This follows revelations by committee chair and Homabay Senator Moses Kajwang' who says that the committee will use the visit to take a thorough look into the county expenditure.
He reported receiving complains from Siaya Members of County Assembly (MCAs) over the use of public coffers by Governor Cornel Rasanga's leadership.
Kajwang' further noted that the ward representatives have requested for an audit.
Speaking during a fundraiser in Ugenya on Saturday, he, however, stated that the move has no malicious intent, but is simply in response to the cries by the MCAs.
“I have toured Siaya for a funds drive this weekend and heard MCAs pushing for audit of the accounts and have talked to Senator James Orengo who has endorsed the proposal that is why I will be here with other senators to establish if the county legislators’ outcry is genuine,” he is quoted by Mediamax Digital.
He said that the plan is to ensure that county funds are used for their rightful purpose, adding that he will convene a meeting with the county beforehand.
The Senator was accompanied by his Narok counterpart Ledama Ole Kina, area lawmaker Chris Karan, Bondo lawmaker Gideon Ochanda among others.
Its worth noting that the same also follows an ongoing row between the MCAs and the Governor, after they recently lamented his move to reduce their county allocation.
