Leaders drawn from Kilifi County appear to be pulling from both sides with regards to the approaching 2022 polls, with groupings coming up.
On one side is a group allied to Deputy President William Ruto, otherwise known as 'Tangatanga' and on the other are team 'Kieleweke' members who are fully against Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
MPs allied to the DP include Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa who on Sunday interrupted Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna's speech in Jilore, Malindi.
Speaking on Sunday, Magarini MP Michael Kingi confirmed the same, noting that the region is indeed divided between the two groups yet the elections are very far ahead.
He argued that the two groups are dividing the people, calling upon leaders to remain cool and wait for directions from Governor Amason Jeffa Kingi.
“Leaders are spending much time preaching unity of the Coast region and the desire of residents is to see it happen in reality," he was quoted by the Standard.
Kilifi North MP Owen Baya, a staunch supporter of Deputy President William Ruto bashed his counterparts Teddy Mwambire (Ganze) and Ken Chonga (Kilifi South) for allegedly betraying the people, noting that the people will punish them.
The two MPs, Mwambire and Chonga, are anti-Ruto allied to the famous team 'Kieleweke'.
On his part, Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi stressed on the need for all political players to cease politicking.
"Teams Kieleweke and Tangatanga have come out to be the greatest enemies of development. Everywhere they go they attack each other, even in churches," he said.
Ironically, all the MPs were elected on the ODM ticket in the 2017 polls, after a vigorous campaign led by the county boss.
