Former Makadara lawmaker Benson Mutura now says that he won't register with the National Integrated Independent Management System (NIIMS), better known as Huduma Namba.
Speaking on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi on Saturday morning, the ex-lawmaker said that he is too busy for the registration, adding that he would reject it even if it were to be brought at his doorstep.
He expressed his doubts on the exercise, terming it another cash cow where corrupt elements holding top state officials are seeking to further enrich themselves, noting that he would rather keep off it until further notice.
"Mimi sijaichukuwa maana niko busy sana na hata nikiletewa kwangu siitaki (I am not interested as I am too busy with other things, I won't get registered even if it were to be brought to my house)," he said.
He wondered why the government is in so much hurry to implement the registration, adding that the haste at which it is being done is suspicious, and he will not take part until the state gives convincing reasons behind the registration.
Mutura noted that the fact that the exercise is being done a few months ahead of the census scheduled for August makes it fishy, wondering why the state opted to execute them separately, yet a joint exercise would have been cheaper.
"Haraka ni ya nini? Mbona wasiiunganishe na census? Mimi sijaielewa na naona ni njia ingine ya kuibia wananchi pesa zao (what's with the hurry? Why not join it with the census? His could be another pending scandal)," he noted.
However, the exercise has received massive endorsements from some of the leading politicians, including President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
