In 2015, Garissa Township Member of Parliament and Leader of the Majority Aden Duale hosted renowned journalist Jackie Maribe at his palatial home in Garissa.
It was the first time that the Jubilee legislator had granted a journalist access to his house.
The outspoken legislator made rather personal revelations about his life.
The two talked about Duale's early life, his political career and social life; a conversation which was punctuated by banter.
Duale even served the Citizen journalist raw camel milk and took her to his former.
In a revealing moment in their conversation, Duale paints a portrait of the abject poverty in which he was raised.
"My late dad did not believe in education. My mum really believed in education because she's the one who brought us up. She bought us a shirt and a short and asked us," My dear sons, make sure you survive with that until December," Duale told Maribe.
In spite of the difficulties, Duale rose up to become an influential politician in Kenya and helped Jubilee win the presidency in 2013.
Duale also introduced Maribe to his brother and the three took a selfie.
It was a window into the unknown side of Duale's life.
