The Leader of Majority Aden Duale had a rough day on Thursday as he tried to move President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Finance Bill recommendations.
Duale who supported the recommendations by Uhuru to introduce an 8% VAT on petroleum products was accused of ‘hanging Kenyans’ using a rope from ‘his masters’.
Chants or Duale must go! Duale must go! Rent the air as opposers of the motion shouted him down.
A good number of MPs were seen telling off Duale over his stand.
Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang said allowing the recommendations is subjecting Kenyans to lethal taxes as the Treasury CS can use a gazette notice to increase the tax after parliament approves the bill.
At one time, Duale faced a humiliation as he tried to leave the house when the legislators shouted him down.
The President's proposal, however, sailed through as opposers lacked numbers.
