Family and friends of Monica Nyawira on Thursday held her requiem mass at the Mount Kenya University (MKU) grounds in Thika.
Grief and sorrow filled the air as people paid their last respect to Monica. Her parents had to be supported as they viewed her body.
Monica’s body was laid in a white casket with gold-coloured edges. A poster with several pictures of the late Monica was hung in the tent where the casket was kept.
“Justice for Monica Kimani…The vengence belongs to the Lord,” read the writings on the poster.
Monica's father, Bishop Paul Ngaram, paid her an emotional tribute that left mourners in tears.
Monica was murdered in her apartment in Kilimani last week. Her body was found in the bathtub with her throat slit.
One suspect has so far been arrested in connection with her brutal murder. Investigations linking Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe’s lover Joseph Irungu aka Jowie to the murder are still underway.
Maribe’s car was today (Thursday) impounded as investigations into the case intensify. Police are said to be looking for the anchor after efforts to reach her to record a statement proved futile.
