Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka's political journey has not been a walk in the park with his spouse.
Kalonzo's first car had famous 079 number plate.
The Wiper leader joined politics in 1983 when a by-election was called in Mwingi North.
He, however, performed dismally after losing the Mwingi North's parliamentary seat to Philip Manandu.
Kalonzo said he thought his academic qualifications would give him an upper hand over his competitors, but it turned out the other way round.
Manandu was so powerful to the extent that many attributed his victory to witchcraft.
He defeated heavyweights including the then Central Organisation of Trade Union (COTU) secretary general, Justus Mulei.
Kalonzo disclosed that though he managed to campaign for the parliamentary seat, money was a big issue on his part.
He further records that he was supported by two of his great friends, Paul Musili Wambua and Caxstone Munywoki.
Kalonzo, who was a student at the University of Nairobi, joined the race after the institution was closed in the wake of the 1982 failed coup by Kenya Air Force rebels.
He, however, never gave up in his political career.
Kalonzo gave the contest another attempt in 1985 and this time, he was lucky to emerge the victor.
