Korir was running for the Konoin parliamentary seat in Bomet County on a Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) ticket but failed to capture the seat.

Korir who won Sh208,733,619 after correctly predicting 17 games said that after he lost his election, most people abandoned him.

He said that most people did not want to see him and they would ignore his calls since they thought he wanted to borrow money from them.

Korir said he will use part of the money he won to bring change to his community.

“After losing elections, most people saw me as a loser, but now I know they will see me differently. Some would not answer my calls since they thought I wanted to borrow money. I will work for my people regardless of where I do it from,” he said as quoted by standardmedia.co.ke.

The cash crop director in West Pokot County said he was driving from Bomet to West Pokot when he was called by SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri informing him that he won the mega jackpot.

“I received the call when I was around Kapenguria and everything in me started shaking. I was forced to park my car for a while, I could not drive anymore due to excitement,” added Korir.
