Speaking to Citizen TV’s Nimrod Taabu on Thursday, the firebrand governor said that he has no intention of parting ways with the opposition leader, adding that they share cordial ties. He also said that Raila has not asked him to keep off the presidential race.

“My party leader has always been Raila Amollo Odinga and I’m sure that will continue until the day I retire from politics because of what he stands for. And so my party leader has not told me not to run for presidency… he hasn’t,” stated Joho.

The second-term governor maintained that he has what it takes to ascend to power. He also said that he believes time has come for a politician from the minority community to ascend to power.

The county boss further said that he has no intention of renewing his rivalry with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi were among the fiercest critics of the Jubilee regime.

The duo was accusing President Uhuru and his Deputy William Ruto of failing to deliver on their promises.
