Police officers in Kisumu have finally arrested a 21-year-old man who has been cohabiting with a 15-year-old secondary school student.
The man identified as Newton Oluoch was arrested in East Othany village in Seme Sub-county after he went into hiding when he got wind of his impending arrest.
The police had launched a manhunt on Mr Oluoch after getting a tip-off from the public that he was cohabiting with a minor whom he had turned into a wife.
Senior Assitant Chief for East Othany sub location Caleb Apondi confirmed that the police also arrested the girl to help in further investigations.
According to the Assistant Chief, the two had already sired a child after the man had lured the minor out of school while she was only aged 14.
The local administrator further revealed that the two were planning to procure an abortion for their second born child.
"The man recently sneaked and lured the girl out of school for the second time despite several warnings from the parents," the administrator told Citizen Digital.
He cautioned men against the habit of luring young girls into early marriages warning that the government will not relent in pursuing and bringing them to book.
"We will not relent in protecting the rights of our children particularly girls, the culprits who will be found in this mess will be dealt with in accordance with the law, "he added.
He went ahead to ask parents to be responsible and take good care of their children.
Apondi also asked members of the public to cooperate with his office and the police in combating the crime that is on the rise across the country.
