Joseph Kairu was presented before the court in connection to the disappearance of Caroline Jepchirchir, a Nakuru Women’s Prison warder.

Jepchirchir’s body was on Wednesday evening found dumped in a thicket at Githioro village in Subukia, Nakuru County.

Kairu was arrested by the police after it emerged that he was one of the people that had been seen with Jepchirchir before she disappeared on April 3, 2019.

Jepchirchir’s boyfriend who was also allegedly seen with her is still being sought by the police.

During the case hearing, police detective David Kuria asked the court to grant him more time to complete his investigation into the incident.

Kuria in his miscellaneous application asked the court to detain the suspect until the next hearing date.

Resident Magistrate Wilson Kitur granted the application and directed that the suspect be detained at the Nakuru Central Police Station for two weeks.

The case will be mentioned on April 24.
