More details have emerged following food poisoning cases reported at Nyabururu Girls National School in Kisii County.
According to students who are currently receiving treatment at Nyangena Hospital over food poisoning, the school cooks have been cooking food in dirty environment.
"Cooks have been serving us food cooked at dirty kitchen. Teachers led by the principal have been canning us when we complain about the bad food," said a student who requested for anonymity.
Another student claimed that over 200 students are still at the school with stomachache.
"The school principal beat us when when we reported that the food we have been eating is bad before we were brought to hospital. Over 200 other students are still in school because the school management said we should be brought to hospital in shifts so that our parents should not know," she stated.
The victims also revealed that the matron lied that an official communication was to be made to parents.
Efforts to get a comment from the school were in vain because the school was a no go zone to members of the press or members of the public.
