In a press statement on Thursday, a furious Uhuru alleged that his critics have made Kenyans believe that he's against the Building Bridges Initiative that was launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Mr Kuria, who appeared humbled by his critics, defended his perspective on the handshake, adding that he remains one of few former critics of Raila who embraces it.

"There is this misconception that I am against Building Bridges Initiative. I have traversed this country including areas such as Homa Bay, Kakamega and Kisumu in support of the handshake. By the way, there is no problem with the president serving every region.

"Personally, I have written to Hon Raila Odinga inviting him formally to Gatundu to launch some projects. I am a beneficiary of the handshake because initially, I could only touch down at Kisumu International Airport," read the statement. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2054521071292258&id=900455006698876.

Mr Kuria has been under pressure from a section of Mt Kenya leadership following his New Year remarks that  President Uhuru Kenyatta had discriminated Central Kenya in terms of development.

But in his statement, Kuria accused unnamed individuals of 'hiding' behind the remarks to sabotage his 'smooth' relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
