Bett lost his life on the spot when the car he was driving was involved in a road crash after it hit a bump and veered off the road before landing in a ditch near Lessos centre along the Eldoret-Kapsabet road in Nandi County.

His death was confirmed on Wednesday by his family and the Nandi county police commander Patrick Wambani.

Kenyans all over the country led by President Uhuru Kenyatta have continued to convey their messages of condolence to the relatives and friends of the late athlete and Moi University Students Union president Isaac Choge was not left behind.

On his official Facebook account, Choge termed the deceased as an ambassador of our country to the rest of the World.

“Rest in peace champion and an ambassador of goodwill for our country to the rest of the world. Indeed, this world is not our home anyway,“ reads the post.

His death has sparked emotions since it came just a day after the champion returned from continental Championships in Asaba, Nigeria and he was driving home from Nairobi.

His body was transferred to a local mortuary and the family is yet to communicate the arrangements for his burial.
