Former Olympic hero Nyantika Maiyoro appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga to help him recover his 7 acres land at Borabu scheme days to his death.
Last Monday, from his hospital bed at Christa Marriane Hospital in Kisii, Mr Maiyoro asked the duo to intervene with speed, adding that he could not also afford his medical bills.
"I am appealing to President Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga and Fred Matiang'i to help me recover my grabbed land. I was given that land by Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and someone cannot take it.
"Uhuru is my brother and I know he will help me. I cannot raise medical bills as well. Kindly help me," said the 88-year-old, the pioneer Olympian who emerged 7th in 5,000 meters in 1956 at Melbourne.
His son, Pastor Kennedy Nyantika, confirmed his death on Sunday, just four days after President Uhuru Kenyatta visited Kisii and directed that his tittle deed processed and handed over to him.
The legendary athlete, who is well known for running barefoot and winning inaugural Indian Ocean games in 1953, succumbed to tuberculosis after being admitted close to three weeks.
"Mzee has passed on. He struggled with breathing and doctors could do little. We thank God for all your prayers as a family," he said.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i had offered to clear medical bills for the legend though it remains unclear whether he managed or not.
Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong'i was dispatched by Uhuru, who could not manage to visit the veteran athlete, to ensure his land is given back through registration by the Government of Kenya on Wednesday last week.
