A Kisii-based politician has criticized Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i over his planned suspension of gambling businesses.
The politician, Rachael Otundo while speaking on Monday in Kisii town claimed Matiang'i is misusing his powers as a 'super minister'.
Otundo cautioned the CS that he was turning himself to be an enemy of the youth, the majority of who according to her, earn a living from gambling.
She also wondered why Matiang'i should be worried because more youths have been blacklisted by CRB.
"Youths instead of stealing have opted to gamble to earn a living. If Matiang'i don't want youths to gamble he should consider creating jobs for them so that they can have money to provide for their families," noted Otundo.
She also hit out at the Jubilee government for contributing to many youths engaging in gambling by condoning corruption instead of creating job opportunities for the youths.
"Matiang'i being a super minister should work closely with other Cabinet Secretaries to ensure more graduate youths are employed instead of recycling old people as this will help reduce the high number of youths gambling," said Otundo.
The CS on Monday expressed concerns that many youths in the country were gambling and cautioned that only licences of gambling businesses that will have proof of being tax compliant will be renewed.
