Following the arrest of a former KCSE student at Elimu Bora Secondary School in Mandera over alleged involvement in a plot to assassinate President Kenyatta and Aden Duale, more reports have emerged on how KNEC officials thwarted the student's sinister plans.
A police source investigating the incident revealed that officials from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) who were sorting papers in readiness for marking bumped on the student's English paper which had the chilling contents.
The junior officials then forwarded the paper to higher authorities within the council which, in turn, relayed the same information to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for further action.
At the DCI, investigation officers traced the student back to Elimu Bora High School in Mandera County using his KSCE registration number and subsequently his admission number.
The sequential process eventually led to the arrest of the rogue high school student, who was on Friday brought before a Mandera Resident Magistrate, Duncan Mtai, to face treason charges.
However, the hearing of the case is set for Monday 3rd December 2018.
