Nairobi First Lady Primrose Mbuvi recently came to the rescue of a family in Kibera living in an old car, and this has left many people talking.
The First Lady admitted that the news of the young family’s mystery first came to her through KTN, who covered their story.
Ishmael Abdalla Khamis has been living in this car with his two sons Talib and Said Ishmael ever since 2013.
Mr Khamis was a businessman selling water in Kibera. Unfortunately, his business collapsed leaving him with nothing to pay for their house rent and food.
It was then that they decided to stay in the car. His wife ran away leaving him alone with the kids.
Luckily for Ishmael and his two kids, Madam Primrose Mbuvi has offered a temporary shelter and also promised to take his kids to school.
Here are some of the reactions from residents:
“Congratulations First Lady and may your family be blessed and live long to see your 5th generation,” said Benson Muthama.
“Sonko and his family are solution-oriented,” said Johnstone K. Kotut.
“My sincere appreciation. May Allah reward you abundantly,” said Osman Muse.
“For the first time in Kenya we have got a First Lady with a human heart responsive to the plight of her people,” said Wilfred Magalasia.
“Good job. Sad that guy had to live in a car,” said Maina Wa Njoki.
“First Lady Nairobi thanks a lot have that heart,” said Janet Kadzoo.
