There is trouble in Jubilee party and things are so bad that party leaders President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have not been seeing eye to eye.

Impeccable sources within the presidency have told the Standard that the President and his deputy have not met for the last three weeks.

“There is little communication from the two. There is some mistrust between them,” the source said.

This is a first one for leaders who showed bromance as they ascended to power in 2013.

The sources who spoke to the paper said President Uhuru and his deputy are now running the country through short text messages and brief calls between them.

Like a troubled marriage, there is tension between the two and none has gathered the courage to approach the other in efforts to resolve their differences.

Apparently, the two have left things ‘to sort themselves out’.

Keen observers did not miss it that the Deputy President did not attend a presidential function in Mombasa on Monday, January 7, 2019, despite his office earlier indicating that he would travel to Mombasa.

Why he decided to keep off the function is still not clear.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has been in Mombasa since Christmas and was later joined by ODM party leader and his new found friend Raila Odinga where the two are now seen launching projects together.

The cold war between the Jubilee leaders has reportedly being caused by the ongoing 2022 politics as catalyzed by their allies as well as the entrance of Raila Odinga into Uhuru’s power axis.
