Nairobi governor Mike Sonko on Friday visited the home of the late Mama Oliech in Riara.
The first-time governor was asked to pray. To the amusement of the people present at the home, the governor removed his cap and made an emotional prayer.
The governor was brief in his prayer as he thanked those who contributed towards the burial of the deceased.
The family of the late Mama thanked the Governor for being supportive to them during the days when she was alive.
Denis Oliech presented visitors with bottles of water during the visit. The governor late took to social media and eulogized the deceased as a loving mother was dedicated to giving her children the best in life.
”I condoled the family of late Mary Auma, mother to former Harambee Stars captain Dennis Oliech at their family home. Mama Oliech will be remembered for her hard work and discipline that helped to raise her family,” he wrote.
The death of Mama Oliech has been a big blow to the family. She shared very close ties with the footballer. Oliech is said to have given his mother all he could including the best treatment before her demise.
Kenyans led by President Uhuru Kenyatta have eulogized the deceased.
