In August 2016, a huge snake disrupted a political rally at Ikombe in Yatta, Machakos County.
Wavinya Ndeti flanked by other leaders had arrived at Ikombe market for the rally.
The former Chama cha Uzalendo party, the party's Secretary General Philipe Saja, organising secretary Davies Musau and former Machakos County Assembly deputy speaker Nathaniel Nganga had just taken their seats when the incident occured.
Screams rented the air as residents scampered for safety while guests including Ndeti climbed on top of tables.
However, brave locals swang into action and killed the huge snake using stones and sticks.
The snake was later set burnt.
The frightened guests and the crowd returned to the meeting as the rally continued moments later as planned.
Ndeti had just opened the Chama Cha Uzalendo party office at Makutano market in Ikombe ward, about two hundred metres away from the scene before the incident occurred.
Despite snakes being common in Yatta sub county due to the hot and dry conditions, the incident left most residents with unanswered questions.
Wavinya Ndeti now seeks to dethrone the Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua on a Wiper ticket if a by-elections is held in Machakos.
