The many political activities taking place in Mombasa and the Coast region in general should be making former Senator Hassan Omar not to stay easy heading into the next general election.
With no job and a diminished political voice in the region, the former Senator who was tipped for political greatness is facing an awkward political dilemma with his future hanging on balance.
The recent political truce between Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho may be turning point in Mombasa. But for Omar, his own political fortunes may have turned from bad to worse.
What Omar needs now is that powerful political figure to kick start his political career. And without looking far, Joho is that man who can bring back the former Senator's 'dead' political career back into life.
As such, he should consider working together with Joho again. After all, there are no permanent enemies or friends in politics.
If at all Joho-Balala political deal will go beyond the 2022 election, then it may be difficult for Omar to make a political comeback considering that he will be competing against the heavyweights wielding too much influence.
Though he has maintained uncharacteristically low political profile, Omar could be laying a strategy for 2022.
