While the majority of city dwellers are good people, there are some elements who have ill motives.

Here are the people you should never trust while visiting or doing business in Nairobi and adjacent areas like Kibera.

1. Sex workers 

Commercial sex trade is thriving in Nairobi city with thousands of twilight girls parading the streets every night in hunt for clients.

While some sex workers can be said to be genuine in their business, a majority are criminals who disguise as sex workers to steal and commit crime.

While in Nairobi city it is advisable not to trust a sex worker whether you meet on the streets or in a nightclub.

Cases of sex workers drugging their customers or people they meet are on the streets are on the rise.

2. Street urchins or 'Chokoras' 

Street children have invaded city streets and often beg for money and material things from city dwellers.

Walking through the Nairobi streets, you will be confronted by groups of street children asking for money or food.

It is advisable to be careful since some criminals are now days disguising as street children to steal from unsuspecting people.

3. Bodaboda operators 

While majority of Nairobi city bodaboda operator are good people, there are some who are in the trade to steal from unsuspecting clients.

Cases of some bodaboda operators colluding with criminals to kidnap and steal from clients have been reported before.

While in Nairobi city, it is advisable not to just board any bodaboda and is good to seek the identity of the riders before agreeing to use their service.

4. 'Mkokoteni' pullers 

Cart pulling is common in areas like Kibera. While majority of cart pullers are genuine and good people, some of them use the trade to steal from their clients. 

Cases of cart pullers disappearing with the belongings of their clients especially at busy bus stops have been reported.

It is advisable for you to be keen and careful when you engage a cart puller.
