Schools in Garissa are among other schools that the national examination council is monitoring ahead of the national exams.
Garissa is among six counties that the national examiner will investigate as it warns schools against abetting any form of exam irregularities.
Kenya National Examinations Council chairman George Magoha said principals of the schools that have been named will be investigated before the exam starts.
The other schools that have been put on the council’s radar are from Wajir, Meru, Kiambu, West Pokot, Kisii and parts of Nyanza.
Mr Mogoha said the names of the principals suspected of involvement in the exam malpractices have been forwarded to the security agencies for investigations.
Speaking while briefing journalists on the progress of examination preparedness at Lang'ata Sub-County headquarters in Nairobi, the chairman said some schools are giving their students fake papers while some are planning to open examination material before the scheduled time with an intention of benefiting some candidates.
“The council wishes to confidently assure the country that every candidate will see the examinations on the day that the particular papers are scheduled to be taken,” Prof Magoha said.
The chairman further warned schools against conducting activities such as visiting and prayer days for candidates which were banned by the education ministry in a bid to curb exam cheating.
“The council has confirmed that some schools are still conducting prayers and other activities during the third term contrary to the Ministry of Education guidelines,” he added.
