According to locals living within Atakwa Academy, they will take the law into their own hands if the said teacher reports to the school for the third term slated to commence next week on Monday.

Bunow Adan, a parent, said the act by  Christopher Mwaniki was a public mockery of the Islamic religious doctrines and the penalty was nothing less than a death sentence.

"He is a teacher, what was he showing our children? We shall not take such indecent mockery to our religion. Parents are angry and even the clergy is concerned. He better stay away from our school," said the visibly angry parent.

Mwaniki on Tuesday appeared before Garissa Senior Resident Magistrate Kibet Sambu who ruled that indecent acts involving stepping on holy books like the Bible or Quran is blasphemy.

Kibet said Mwaniki's action is a public mockery of religion which is an offence under the Kenyan constitution.

However, Mwaniki requested the court not to free him on a cash bail or even bond, noting that his life was in great danger.
