Kisii-based politician Don Bosco has rubbished the move by a section of Gusii leaders to endorse Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua's 2022 presidential bid.
This comes after the leaders led by Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama noted that they will support Mutua in 2022, and urged him to consider picking Interior CS Fred Matiang'i as his running mate.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Don Bosco argued that Governor Mutua doesn't have it takes to ensure Matiang'i ascends to the presidency in the upcoming polls.
The flamboyant politician argued that Mutua narrowly beat his opponent in the 2017 Machakos gubernatorial race thus will have an uphill task clinching the country's top seat in 2022.
"A section of Kisii leaders have endorsed Governor Mutua to work with Matiang'i for Matiang'i to ascend to the presidency. For Matiangi to ascend to the presidency, Mutua is the last person we need to ascend to the presidency. Let us be serious sometimes please, he narrowly beat his competitor, and he thanked God when the Supreme Court upheld his victory. At times I get the feeling that the Gusii elected leaders we got presently most of them have no clue what is going on in Kenya. That truly pains some of us," said Don Bosco.
He further advised the Gusii politicians to ask their colleagues like Governors Mike Sonko (Nairobi), Hassan Joho (Mombasa) and Anyang' Nyong'o (Kisumu) to endorse Matiang'i.
