Issuing a statement through his Finance Chief Officer Mr Ibrahim Malow, Korane dismissed the report terming it as erroneous and misleading.

He said the revelations were just malicious and aimed at creating a bad impression of the county.

“It is not a criminal offence not to spend any cent on development especially during the first quarter of any fiscal year. It is within the prerogative of any county government to decide when and how to spend on development projects or even on recurrent expenditures, as long as it lies within the given financial year,” reads a statement by Malow.

He further divulged that as a county, they decided that they would spend their development finances on the subsequent quarters after evaluating its projects to avoid possible stalling along the way.

Mallow's statement comes barely a day after the new Council of Governors' chairperson Wycliffe Oparanya also dismissed reports claiming that it is not possible for any county government to have zero funding for development projects.
