Mr. Ayacko is in line to contest for the County’s senatorial seat in October this year, to replace Migori’s second Senator, the late Ben Oluoch Okello.

Throughout his time in office as Migori governor since 2013, Obado has been accused by his critics of various misdeeds and miss-calculations ranging from corruption and misuse of public funds to lavish spending of public money.

In January 2015, the governor was forced to come out strongly to deny claims of buying a bed worth Sh1 million.

“I have never bought a bed worth Sh1 million, and the people maligning me will get nowhere with this lie. What is their interest in my bedroom? I thought visitors should only go as far as the living room?” the governor was quoted by the Nation.

“I will not be distracted by petty propaganda by my opponents who want to undermine my development initiatives in this county. And I will continue to deliver on my election pledges without fear,” he added.

He was addressing mourners at a burial ceremony in Rongo, Sub-County.
