Two last-minute goals by midfielder Francis Kahata and Rwandese striker Jacques Tusiyenge were enough for the host to overcome stubborn Nasr Athlétique de Hussein Dey 2 - 0 in CAF Confederation Cup match played on Sunday evening at MISC, Kasarani.
The victory moves Gor Mahia on top of Group D with 6 points.
First-half provided few chances for both sides, with the best chance of the half falling to Nasr, only for Ouallid Allati to lob the ball wide past Oluoch.
Hussein were forced to make two subs with Abderouf Chouiter replacing hitman Ahmed Gasmi after colliding with Samuel Onyango, while Hocine Laribi replaced Hocine El Orfi.
The first half ended on a barren draw despite Gor dictating the proceedings and forcing visitors to sit back, they lacked the cutting edge up front.
Gor continued to pile pressure on Hussein Dey even as the game headed for a stalemate with visitors looking satisfied with the scoreline.
Francis Kahata smashed home an opener for the host on 84th minutes after a cross from Shafik Batambuze.
With visitors yet to come to terms with the goal, Jacques Tusiyenge put the game beyond Hussein's reach with a superb finish as he ran past the flat-footed Hussein defense to hit the ball beyond goalie.
"I told the players not to stop running until the last minute. For the goal was coming. We didn't give up as we fought hard and got the result." said," Oktay said.
The victory lifts Gor to top of Group D with 6 points, Hussein and Petro Atlético Luanda are tied on level with 4 points, while Zamalek languishes in the bottom table with two points.
