A middle aged man is fighting for his life at Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital after he was set on fire by his elder brother.
The incident happened on Tuesday in Menyinkwa, Nyaribari Chache constituency in Kisii County.
It is alleged that the victim Dickson Bosire, stole Sh150 from his elder brother.
Locals said trouble started when the victim's brother Samuel Ocharo returned to his rented apartments only to find Sh150 missing.
"Ocharo couldn't find Sh150 which he had hidden under the bed. He tried to question his brother but was not willing to cooperate," said Boniface Oenga a local.
Mr Oenga, who is also the area Nyumba Kumi chairman, said a furious Ocharo bought petrol and decided to set ablaze his brother.
"The suspect bought 1 liter of petrol. He poured the petrol on his brother before he set him on fire, claiming that he can't continue living with a thief," he said.
Kisii Assistant Police Commander Caleb Matoke condemned the incident saying the suspect is nursing burn wounds at KTRH.
The commander said the suspect fled after the incident, adding that police are pursuing him to his hideout.
