The self Proclaimed NRM General Miguna Miguna has resisted the calls for constitutional changes, taking a swipe at Mt.Kenya leaders who are backing the push.
"To the chauvinistic cabals like Maina Kamanda, Uhuru Kenyatta and their collaborators, a referendum is not about one ethnic group no matter how entitled they might feel. The interests of 50 million Kenyans are more important than those of a few chauvinists," Miguna wrote Twitter.
Miguna further reiterated that the March 9, 2018 "hand cheque" between president Uhuru and Raila Odinga have hidden agenda to perpetuate certain individuals and communities to positions of power.
"Because the hand-cheque (sic), mythical bridges to nowhere, referendum and change the constitution movement are designed to perpetuate Kikuyu hegemony, chauvinistic interests, and neocolonial agenda, their resistance has become our patriotic duty," Miguna stated on his Twitter handle on Sunday afternoon.
This is after the Jubilee party nominated Mp Maina Kamanda caused confusion and an alarm on the motive towards constitutional change.
His recent remarks that the constitution will save the Mt.Kenya region is sending shivers as to the agenda behind the referendum calls by a section of the Jubilee and opposition legislators.
Kamanda joined the bandwagon of the central Kenya leaders calling for the referendum which has received opposition from a section of both the Ruling and opposition party.
"The Agikuyu community wants a referendum as it will keep this region in government," Maina Kamanda said.
Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo stated during the JKL interview early this year that, if the constitutional calls are for the interest of Kenyans then he will definitely support but if it has a motive of creating more positions to suit political 'rejects' then he'll oppose.
Majority of leaders from Mt.Kenya have been fronting for the constitutional change which sends questions as to whether the constitution is to be changed to fit in a particular 'community's' interest as Miguna Miguna notes.
