Last week, MPs contested a vote in parliament, which had clearly shown that they rejected the bill only for house leadership to claim victory.

With a section of Kenyans on social media demanding for resignation of the president, more leaders have joined the bandwagon.

"He lost the vote and as MPs we feel cheated. Uhuru worked with house leadership to rig us. He must now resign," said Simba Arati in an interview at Egesa FM.

West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi added: "When you can't stand with your people, you have no moral authority to lead them. The president should resign forthwith."

ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire insisted that the parliament drama was an indication of failed leadership adding that speaker Justin Muturi should take responsibility.

"That was the lowest moment for him. Uhuru misused him and the the two should now bow out. It's an embarrassment to us."

Uhuru assented into law the bill that will now see petroleum products drastically shoot up in prices due to imposition of 8% VAT.
