Nyamira County Woman Rep Jerusha Momanyi has asked Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi to help improve her relationship with male Members of Parliament from the county.
Speaking on Saturday at Bomondo SDA church, Momanyi said male politicians are doing too little to help her in serving the residents of Nyamira.
"I want to confirm to you that male politicians in the county are not helping me fully in serving the people of Nyamira. Please help me tell them the importance of women in leadership so that they can support my leadership," she noted.
The vocal lawmaker further urged Matiang'i to help her persuade male politicians in the county to back more women leaders to join active politics in future.
She argued that male politicians have dominated the county politics while women have been sidelined.
"We have more women who will make good leaders but, men at times intimidate and blackmail the women anytime they want to join politics.
"Given your big post in government as a super minister, please consider pushing more women from Kisii and Nyamira counties to seek political seats in 2022," she stated.
