Ex-Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama left Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka a troubled man after he refused to defend his seat in the August 8, 2017, general elections and instead threatened to expose him.

The outspoken Muthama said he was no longer going to contest for the seat because Wiper had become undemocratic.

He accused the former Vice President of micromanaging the political outfit ahead of the 2017 polls.

Muthama's move came after the disputed nomination of former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti to contest against Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.

Muthama said Kalonzo doctored results that saw Ndeti emerge the winner in the party primaries.

“It is no longer a democratic party, to put it plainly as I always preferred to do. I cannot go out and campaign for Wiper anywhere in this country,” Muthama declared.

In an interesting twist of events, Muthama asked Wiper party candidates to seek for various political positions in Machakos County as Independent candidates.

Muthama claimed that the party was going to lock them out of the contest because of Kalonzo.

He threatened to ditch Wiper.

“I encourage those blackmailed by the party to take the option of running as independent candidates. I am contemplating my next move. There will be a bruising political battle in Ukambani. The voice of the people will be heard. They will never be ignored or bullied, ever again,” Muthama added.
