Confirming the incident, Kisii Central Police OCPD Francis Nguli said the bhang was recovered by police who searched a bus headed to Nairobi from Migori.

"Our officers are alert to ensure no bhang is ferried and other illegal drugs. The three suspects who are all bus operators were arrested and taken to Kisii Central police station with the bhang whose street value is estimated to be around Ksh one million," he said.

He insisted that the officers will not allow vehicles to pass at roadblocks without inspection.

The OCPD assured that the suspects will be arraigned in court today, Friday.

"The suspects must face the law to serve as an example to others who are still doing illegal businesses in the dark," he stated.

Nguli warned the public against engaging in dubious businesses saying anybody who will be caught will face the full force of the law alone.

"The public must report anyone they suspect is doing illegal businesses to authorities for arrests to be made. Police colluding with illegal traders will be sacked and taken to court" he noted.
