Galgalo who spoke in Kivaani, Kangundo Sub County said that every two days, a life is lost to suicide.

"After every two days, a suicide case is reported in the county, Machakos is leading on the list with most suicide cases," said Galgalo.

He advised residents to find for the solution of their problems instead of resolving to suicide citing that suicide doesn't make things easier.

"Suicide doesn't solve anything at all, every one of us has his or her problems but we have to find ways of dealing with them and giving up isn't an option," said the County Commissioner.

"A man hanging himself and leaving his family suffering only makes the situation worse since his family will have to bear a heavy burden," he added.

Galgalo urged parents to create a good environment so that their kids can talk to them about anything.

Furthermore, he urged religious leaders to also advise people against suicide.

"I know penye wazee hapaharibiki Jambo, religious leaders please talk to the people. I know no religion supports suicide," he said.

His sentiments were echoed by Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua who said that according to statistics most people committing suicide in the county are men.
