Outspoken Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has been served by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party with a letter calling on her to show the reason why she should not be punished for openly campaigning for Deputy President William Ruto ahead of 2022.
Aisha is among Coast region's strong leaders who have publicly declared support for Ruto.
But what are the chances that she will survive the wrath of the voters in 2022 after openly defying the ODM party which is dominant in Coast?
There are only two leaders whose intervention will save her political career:
1. Raila Odinga
He is the opposition leader as well the ODM party leader. Raila, since 2007, has directly campaigned for specific leaders and his 'political blessing' can't be ignored.
Despite the troubles Aisha is presently going through for violating the ODM party principles, Raila can actually save the former Kilifi Woman Representative if he intervened and reigned on the ODM Disciplinary Committee.
If he remains silent over ODM's proposal to punish Aisha, then the MP would be good to go out Parliament in 2022.
2. Hassan Joho
Joho is the ODM Deputy party leader and wields immense power in the Coast region.
Ahead of the 2017 general polls, he was with Aisha in almost all ODM rallies in the region.
Joho being Raila's deputy has the capacity to convince Raila to reverse the party's decision to punish Aisha and give her a second chance to redeem her image before the voters who rejected Jubilee during the 2013 and 2017 general election.
