A source at the Assembly who sought anonymity said the two MCAs Edwin Maraswa (Kapseret) and Julius Songok (Tulwet/Chuiyat) fought during a heated discussion on Wednesday over the suitability of Ann Koech who has been nominated to be the Chief officer for Devolution and Public Service.

It is reported that the MCAs present during the debate could not agree on whether the nominee should be approved or not.

The two MCAs, however, engaged in a heated debate that later saw them exchange blows.

During the vetting process, a petition had been filed challenging Koech's suitability to hold the position over claims of irregular employment of county staff and being too old.

The vetting committee was at some point forced to postpone the exercise and schedule it for a later date.

Langas MCA Francis Muya condemned the incident saying it was unfortunate for the two to engage in a fight and yet the issue could have been solved amicably.

“I have never thought such an incident could happen at our assembly and I know wherever they are, they are regretting their deeds," said Muya.
