Third Way Alliance Party leader Ekuru Aukot has said that Deputy Governors will be among elected leaders who will suffer under his party's raft of reforms.
The party is pushing for constitutional amendment dubbed 'Punguza Mizigo' which seeks to among other things, reduce elective positions to lessen the tax burden on Kenyans.
Aukot on Thursday said that the Deputy Governor's seat will be scrapped should his bid sail through, terming it a redundant position which came with the 2010 constitution.
The former Presidential aspirant added that the same has also caused nothing but wrangles at the helm of most counties as the group engages governors in conflicts.
"Hiyo tunatoa pap! (we are removing it).See #PunguzaMizigoBill2019. It's a redundant position and also a source of conflict with the Governor," he tweeted on Thursday.
He added that the push also seeks to save public monies from thieves targeting it, and ensure that only the best ascend to leadership positions in the 2022 general elections.
"With #PunguzaMizigoBill2019, thieves of public money will be a thing of the past. In 2022, we could have a fresh team of leaders without blemishes," he added.
Aukot and team have since presented signatures for the same purpose to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for verification.
