People from Kano Plains in Kisumu county are known for their hardwork.
This isn't unique to men but women as well, with ladies from the region proving their strength and working power as is evident in their rice farms.
In the entire Luo Nyanza region, Kano people are hailed for their endurance will to soil themselves in the fields, hence the saying 'Jokano tek to tar' (Kano people are strong and dusty), proof that your land will not go untiled with a Kano lady in your home.
They are also famed for their innovation and business mindedness.
You will always find them hawking their rice to travellers on plastic trays in Ahero and Awasi, the two main centers in Kano apart from Muhoroni.
This, on most occasions, is the residue of their farm produce, after selling the product to traders and taking the rest home for family consumption.
These are the people who will start from the lowest level to the highest you can imagine, and are therefore perfect for wealth generation and maintenance.
They also fall in the list of the most peaceful, respectful, and docile women, and are hardly ever involved in husband battering, despite being physically strong.
Like their counterparts from the rest of the Luo Nyanza region, they are great cooks who can prepare close to everything and are self taught and easy to educate in both the kitchen and everywhere else.
Surrounded by other communities back at home, especially Kalenjins from Nandi and Kericho counties, they have learnt to peacefully coexist with others and will not spend their valuable time arguing with neighbours and mates.
Now you know!
