Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino on Saturday engaged in an ugly Twitter spat with former Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Miguna Miguna.
The war of words ensued after a social media user accused Babu of nepotism for allegedly employing his wife at his constituency office.
The tweep, Faddy Vincent, posted a payroll for the staff of Embakasi East National Government Constituency Development Fund office where a certain Wambua Fridah Muthoni appeared to have received Sh137,115 as the salary for the month of October 2017.
Vincent alleged Muthoni, whose money was deposited at Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), Malindi branch, was Babu's wife.
Reacting to the post, Miguna accused the first-time legislator of corruption and other crimes including drug peddling and murder.
"Babu Owino is not just corrupt; he peddles illicit drugs and has committed murder and torture of university students," said the controversial lawyer.
In a quick rejoinder, furious Babu hit out at the exiled politician and asked him to substantiate his remarks.
"Did I kill your mother Miguna? Stupidity is not a human right," the MP posted.
Requested by a follower to validate the allegations he made against the ODM legislator, Miguna responded by quoting a statement made in the National Assembly in October 1975.
"Asked to substantiate Martin Shikuku's claim that KANU was dead, Jean Marie Seroney, then sitting as the deputy speaker of the National Assembly and MP for Tinderet quipped, 'We don't substantiate the obvious!'," the vocal lawyer stated.
