The is a looming political crisis in Garissa County following discontent between the embattled Governor Ali Bunow Korane and the Garissa Township MP Aden Duale.
The duo are said to be entangled in a bitter exchange of words emanating from their conflicting view points on the recent shooting of former CEC Idris Mukhtar.
According to Duale's circles, Governor Korane played a key role in the shooting.
Just a few days ago, elders from Abduwak clan defended the MP saying the shooting was orchestrated by the governor and his close allies who were involved in numerous graft cases and his questionable university credentials.
Led by Sultan Sambul, the elders now want the governor to walk his case alone without dragging the MP into his woes.
On the other end, the governor is accusing the MP for masterminding his troubles, stating that he largely influenced the decision to have him detained and interrogated for hours.
A fortnight ago, Ali Korane was booked at Kilimani police station where he was compelled to record a statement on what he knew about the shooting.
The shooting involved Idris Muktar, a former finance CEC who had tipped on instituting private prosecutions against the governor.
He is now fighting for his life at the Nairobi Hospital.
