Governor John Nyagarama may be forced to change his strategy after dismissing over 500 ECDE teachers, a move that has not gone well with MCAs and other leaders.
Early this month, the teachers were released, forcing Speaker Moffat Teya to lead a delegation to Nyagarama's office in protest.
"They have families, they were recruited in line with the law. Dismissing them is an injustice and that's why we went to catch up with the governor," he said.
But Borabu MP Ben Momanyi now wants MCAs to frustrate 2019/20 budget until Governor Nyagarama returns the teachers who were dismissed as a measure to reduce wage bill.
"You have powers as MCAs. You're his boss. If he can't return these teachers, just frustrate budget making until he behaves," said Momanyi.
Former Deputy Speaker Duke Omoti said dismissing of the teachers would ruin ECDE programme, arguing that MCAs will not let it go.
"Nyagarama does not have children or grandchildren in these schools. We are not not going to allow it. We must deal with it immediately," he said.
North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko also asked MCAs to frustrate Nyagarama's budget until the teachers are reinstated officially.
In April, Nyagarama said he would not renew contracts for the teachers, adding that the county has enough manpower already. He said the move will reduce wage bill.
