She was first elected MP in the 2013 general election on a NARC party ticket.

Nyamai later ditched Governor Charity Ngilu’s NARC party in 2017 for Jubilee.

She won her re-election on a Jubilee party ticket.

The vocal MP is considered a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto.

She has on several occasions exchanged political barbs with Ngilu over development issues.

Nyamai was born in 1976 in Kitui County.

She schooled at Kyatune primary school and later joined Muthale Girls High school for her secondary education.

Nyamai then proceeded to study a Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Kenyatta University.

She also holds a Master’s Degree in Sociology from the same university.

In 2010, Nyamai graduated with a Postgraduate Degree in Global Health from the University of Arhus, Denmark.

Before joining politics in 2013, Nyamai was a lecturer at Kenyatta University and South Eastern University College of Kitui.

She is married with children.

Political pundits note that Nyamai is among the top Kamba politicians to watch out in the 2022 polls.
