Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Wednesday said that he used to smoke bhang during his tenure as Makadara MP.
Sonko was speaking at during a live interview on Citizen’s JKL show when he was asked to comment on remarks made by Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waitutu over the affairs of the city.
“What can you tell Waititu in what he said,” Jeff Koinange said.
“That is madness. I think he has not stopped smoking bhang as he used to do during his tenure as MP,” Sonko responded.
Shocked, Koinange asked the city boss how he knew about the illegal act.
“We used to smoke together, I know. We were smoking it in a certain toilet. He is a bhang smoker, and he should now stop this madness,” Sonko said.
The show’s host had to put a disclaimer on Sonko’s remarks as he feared for legal action.
“Let me make this clear that the remarks made belongs to Sonko and not Jeff’s or Citizen TV’s,” Sonko said.
The Nairobi County boss said he will continue firing staff who engage in corruption.
“Dismantling cartels Jeff is not a joke. I will admit I have been firing staff. If you do the right thing you will be my friend, you engage in corruption and laziness you will go home,” he said.
