A month ago, ex-Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama was at loggerheads with former Kathiani Member of Parliament Wavinya Ndeti.

The two locked horns and their wrangles got intense as they argued over who would deputize Ndeti in case of a gubernatorial by-election in Machakos following Governor Alfred Mutua's pending appeal case at the Supreme Court.

Muthama wanted Ndeti to replace Peter Mathuki with former Machakos Deputy Governor Benard Kiala as her deputy.

Ndeti, however, refused to give in his demands.

Her reluctance made Muthama threaten to vie for the same seat if a by-election is held.

Muthama said he's so sure he would floor the other aspirants in the elections.

He said that he won't sit and watch as the county leadership goes to the dogs.

However, for the past two weeks, Muthama has been silent. His constant threats have subdued.

Muthama was spotted happy, smiling with Ndeti at a burial ceremony in Tala, Matungulu Sub County two weeks ago.

In his speech at the ceremony, Muthama said he understands that Ndeti's stubbornness emanates from her 'clan'.

Muthama's silence has made residents wonder whether he has agreed he's fighting a losing battle with Ndeti or he's heeding to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka's request for them to work together and burry the hatchet.
