In an interview with Citizen, Kinoti said that DP Ruto called claiming that his life was in danger. This, the DCI boss said forced his office to summon various Mt Kenya Cabinet Secretaries to record statements.

Four CSs; Joe Mucheru (ICT), Sicily Kariuki (Health), James Macharia (Transport) and Peter Munya (Trade) were summoned.

So far, only three of them, Munya, Mucheru and Kariuk appeared at the DCI offices. They addressed the media rubbishing the alleged claims.

The CSs also accused DP Ruto of coming up with wild and unsubstantiated claims and asked him to have enough evidence before making such allegations.

“These are very serious allegations especially coming from the person of the stature of the deputy president occupying an extremely powerful and important office in this land,” Munya said as quoted by Citizen Digital

He further noted that they didn't record statements as there was no written complaint for the alleged accusation.

“The standard procedure is that if someone makes an allegation of that nature, he is required by law to record a statement; the deputy president has not recorded any statement,” stated the Trade CS.
