Uasin Gishu County governor Jackson Mandago has hit out at the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) secretary general Francis Atwoli for calling for the disbandment of the Jubilee party.
Speaking in Eldoret town on Sunday, the County boss said his utterances are uncalled for, ill-intended and were not expected from a man of his calibre.
"Why haven’t you disbanded COTU which elected you, before president Kenyatta disbands Jubilee, first of all, disband COTU in which you have served for decades as Secretary general," said the Jubilee governor.
The Uasin Gishu governor further said that the COTU secretary general does not represent the interests of workers anymore but his own selfish needs.
"As a leader who supported the Jubilee party our aim was to unite where we got leaders from all over the country and no one whatsoever should destroy it since we know why we formed the party and the benefits it has to Kenyans," he added.
He further said that Atwoli should retire from COTU and wondered why workers unions have been electing him despite his age.
This comes after the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) secretary general Francis Atwoli on several occasions advised president Uhuru Kenyatta to disband the Jubilee party for sanity to prevail in the party.
