Operations in the health-centers and County Referral remains stand still after medics downed tools over non-payment for the last two months.

And leaders from across the political divide now wants the county chief to resign over the limbo even as news of three deaths emerged at Ekerenyo Level Four.

"We can't allow this to continue and the governor must now resign. He has the responsibility to pay workers," said Victor Swanya.

Former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati added: "His incompetence is now leading to deaths. It is time that he exits voluntarily."

On Wednesday, Speaker Moffat Teya exonerated the assembly after it emerged that the stalemate was orchestrated by the regional parliament.

In a statement, Teya said that he was concerned of the strike adding that MCAs had passed the 2018/19 estimates.

"We passed the estimates and it is worrying that the executive is yet to pay. They should explain to the residents about the delay."

But a statement by the executive on Thursday directly implicated the assembly insisting that it had irregularly allocated 12 per cent of estimates instead of 7 per cent for its operations thus causing the stalemate.
