1. Caffeinated drinks
Some people find it hard to avoid caffeinated drinks because they can be addictive. However, you should avoid such drinks when you have a cold because they lead to dehydration. 2. Bakery products
Baked foods contain refined nutrients including carbohydrates. They cause inflammation and wreck lymphocytes as well. Try as much as possible to avoid them so that you may recover faster.
3. Refined carbs
Bread and pasta have refined carbohydrates and thus have the same effect as baked foods. They cause inflammation and elevate your blood sugar level.

They are packed with preservatives, sodium and additives that aggravate the condition. It is advisable to avoid eating them for quick recovery.
5. Alcohol
Alcohol dehydrates the body yet you need to stay hydrated when you are sick. It also weakens the white blood cells and causes inflammation. It is advisable to take tea or water instead of going for a bottle of your favourite beer.
